SWINE FLU
Ng Yuk-hang
Jan 26, 2010

Four more pregnant women have lost their babies after getting the swine flu jab, but a senior health official considers miscarriage a "trivial" condition and disclosed the occurrences only after inquiries by the media yesterday.

Centre for Health Protection controller Dr Thomas Tsang Ho-fai said the women, aged 28 to 37, had miscarried two weeks to a month after receiving the vaccine between December 23 and January 6.

The centre received t… Continue

From the SCMP:

Ng Kang-chung
Oct 09, 2009

Mainlanders hoping to give birth in Hong Kong's public hospitals in the next three months will have to change their plans, as bookings have been suspended until the end of the year.

The Hospital Authority, which announced the suspension yesterday, said it would ensure that demand from local expectant mothers could be met during the busiest period of the year. However, bookings for delivery dates after December would still be accepted, the authority sa… Continue

Lack of exercise a key factor in HK breast cancer cases, report shows

Celine Sun,
Sep 17, 2009

Breast cancer, the most deadly cancer for Hong Kong women, might be more likely to strike those who do not exercise or who have not breastfed children before, a study has shown.

The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation released the city's first breast cancer registry report yesterday. It showed that 74 per cent of female breast cancer sufferers exercised for less than three hours a week and 64 per cent had never breastfed children.

The foundation collated information fr… Continue

SCMP Article 21 July 09

The original article published by the Guardian in the UK is here:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/jul/18/breastfeeding-mothers

Printed with a different title in today's SCMP, I can't help feeling angry. Angry that the article was published here in Hong Kong where the situation is so very different.

The article discusses the situation in the UK where mums are apparently under so m… Continue

Dear Ruth,

Thanks for your welcome message months ago, while sorry that I didn't have time to return earlier due to busy work. I got the same Suzanne's message and feel strange about it... what do u think?

I believe most parents come here for sharing and exchanging tips on kids caring while that message looks a bit strange...

My baby girl is 22 days old and she seems to be restless and does not want to sleep for over 6 hours. She has this sleeping problem once or twice every week.

Hi!
Thank you for the welcome message. The essential info was really essential! Why didn't I know about the Chinese confinement period before? I could have gladly done some cultural journeys by lying in bed and sipping Benedictine DOM ;)

Thanks for the welcome notes. You've done a great job with the website in a short while.

What's the best way to discuss collaboration? We would like to offer some free trial classes and discounts at our centre. You are most welcome to come visit and take a look at our centre yourself.

Also have you head of this business networking group called BNI? It's a breakfast networking meeting that I think might be of interest to you.

You can email me at judy.lai@mudpieseducation.com for further discussion.

Later,

Judy
